Superintendent’s Report to the School Committee, 12/3/15

PARCC or MCAS Decision, 2016

On November 17, the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted to transition to a next-generation MCAS Test for grades 3-8 beginning in the spring of 2017. This new test will rely heavily on test items from the PARCC, but will allow Massachusetts to retain final control over which items are used. Schools that administered the PARCC in 2015 will do so again in the spring of 2016, while schools that administered the MCAS in 2015 will have the option of choosing between administering a revised MCAS test, which will include some items from the PARCC, or administering the PARCC exam in its entirety.
