Today 8th, 11th, and 12th-grade students attended an assembly with former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis hosted by the League of Women Voters and our social studies department. Commissioner Davis recounted his experience as the lead police official during the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. He also spoke about the importance of planning ahead, being prepared and building relationships before a crisis.
The assembly, focused on the importance of civic engagement, was both informative and moving. As with any tragic event, each individual’s response is different and some are more affected than others whether due to personal connections, knowing others affected or previous experiences. We are grateful for the experience and appreciate the time Commissioner Davis took to speak with individual students after the presentation.
Thank you to Commissioner Ed Davis, The League of Women Voters, and Social Studies Curriculum Leader Kristen Borges for this great presentation.
