I wanted to share a few events that will take place during the next couple of weeks at the high school.
Starting on Wednesday, February 1st, we will host 32 high school students and 3 teachers from the Mingde Experimental School in China. The students will be with us until February 17th and will shadow our students during the school day.
The C.A.R.E. Club is excited to announce that we are hosting a guest speaker on Tuesday, February 7. The guest speaker is Linda Dutil, an emergency nurse who speaks nationwide to students on the effects of drugs and alcohol on the body. In her presentation, she will share personal stories involving young people who have made poor choices and provide students with intervention skills to avoid drug and alcohol abuse.
The STEM showcase will take place on Friday, February 17th. All Sophomores will attend a number of STEM-based workshops designed by engineers from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. This annual event has been a great way for students to experience STEM careers.
Course selection for the 2017-18 school year will begin on March 1st. High school guidance staff will meet with all high school students to explain/review the process of course selection. Students will choose courses between March 2nd and March 10th. Guidance counselors will meet with all students to review selections. On or about March 24th course selection verification sheets will be given to students to review with parents. These verification sheets will need to be signed by a parent and returned to the guidance department.
February vacation is the week of the 20th.
Don’t forget to check out our Google Calendar for school events.
Have a great week!
